The Rolling STONES: Everyone Is WRONG About The BEST Rock ALBUM?
The Rolling Stones were on a roll! Between 1968 and 1972, they put out four albums that many fans say are their greatest, and some even say they're among the best rock albums ever made. Their last album in this amazing streak was a double album called "Exile on Main St." It was a wild ride to close out this epic period, just like you'd expect from the Stones.
Most folks know the story behind the album's name: the band had to leave England for a while because of high taxes, so they rented a place in France to make their music. But even though they were in Europe, the music on "Exile on Main St." is a mix of blues, soul, country, and rock - a sound that's all over the map in the best way possible.
This is a special double album - all 18 songs are fantastic, no duds here! Let's dive into each track and see what makes them so great.

    Great album but not the best for me, for a Rolling Stones album, Let it Bleed and Sticky Fingers make a nice top 3 albums for them but greatest album ever? Dark Side of the Moon, Abbey Road, Sgt Pepper, Lead Zeppelin 2, 4 & Physical Graffiti, Electric Lady Land, Paranoid and a few others rank higher for me. Great Stones in any event...

    But the full exile was never officially released a whole album much better than the official they snubbed Taylor because like the Brian Jones hex especially on Sticky he reminded them that they were actually no big deal musically but ripped off his copyright to hype themselves in those 4 album's also. They never shook the Karma of the Jones hex until Taylor left - sick to death of them. They continued to sabotage his work in the official release of the Brussels Affair live album ect. Then there's the total absence of Altamont no live album or thanks to the Hells Angels for saving your life. Imagine a gate fold of Altamont and Exile II in the early 70s. Now that would have been the greatest rock n Roll album of the 70s. Nearest and always the go to was Yah Yahs. Hexed lower middle class wannabees with 2nd rate talent of J&R but they had rock star attitude they hyped off the shoulders others. Almost nothing in the catalog is 100% original from the lyrics for sympathy to the Chuck Berry imitation. They had a shot at the mountain and passed. Vainity thy name is hype. Unfortunately the Doors and Cream weren't around in the 70s to put them in their place. Yah Yahs is their best and only album worth having. The rest is Nicked. No Sympathy For The Snatch. Voodoo Scroungers. Under cover of the hype.

      @@jamesecclestone9679 out takes never released are on you tube including the official album. Altamont has no soundtrack but the film or big sections of it is on YT free last time I looked??? Greatest track of the Stones ever I Don't know Why / Hill Side Blues 11 minute country blues Jam with Jagger doing his black blues voice every one is at their absolute peak! When I heard this track I really felt cheated. So did Taylor even more. Exile was poorly received and wasn't a big seller. Only later much later decades later was it suddenly the big one with the critics. There's always gonna be the problem of the Stones greatest Studio album. Because their ain't one. So exile or the awful Sticky are always mobilised by the shrine.

    The commentary in each song is insipid. No, there's no distorted guitar solo in the middle of Rocks Off. There's no solo in the middle of this song. Taylor opens up with what starts to be a blistering hot solo just as the song starts it's fade out.

    • @RockinRollinOne

      Thanks for watching! No, I didn't say "there's distorted guitar solo in the middle of Rocks Off!"

    • @grubbetuchus
      @grubbetuchus 2 години тому

      @@RockinRollinOne In this upload it would be at the 10:17 mark. Did you edit out this comment about thst distorrted guitar solo (a solo that doesn't exist on any studio version, but it's in place at several live versions)? But I'm this video of yours, it's there in all of its wrong glory at the 8:00 mark. So, regardless of which video, yes you did. ua-cam.com/video/hRbYeD6sgb8/v-deo.htmlsi=Fx-UPI6nZsAcb9kZ Which is it? You edited out in this video or punched it in on that video that I just linked? The reason that I'm not taken with your commentary on each song track is that much of the assettions are baseless, OR too many assettions are pure opinion (opinions are matters of taste snd not matters of fact). For example, to highlight Taylor's slide solo on Stop Breaking Down as exemplorary, despite that it's just basic open G slide, really, really basic, but give abdolutrky no mention of his blistering hot slide playing on All Down the Line, a song that is all Taylor, is, let's say, sn "interesting" omission of something so obvious. There's more examples, but I'll leave it at this, a pointer that my criticism was "shorthand" for something that I could have made more constructive had I explained my comment.

    like The Beatles ‘White’ album, Exile would probably be a better single album; hardly the best R&R album, it’s not even the best Stones album (Sticky Fingers or Live @ Leeds ‘71 would get my vote) there’s a lot of myth & mystery surrounding Exile On Main Street & it certainly was the pinnacle of the dangerous Stones but, like most double albums, it has it’s share of filler…I’ve been following The Rolling Stones since ‘Satisfaction’ in ‘65; to me, all their albums have some good songs; explore them and make a killer playlist or 3

No stripped down blues but great songwriting all thru, Angie the mega hit, some beautiful open Chord ballads, some social commentary, a touch of evil, Star F'er and Silver Train's Mick Taylor slide ! Its the Stones most varied take on American styles from Rock to Rock a Billy to country blues to country to R& B ballads, its really ROOTS ..I mean there are acts calling themselves Roots and Americana that can’t touch this collection. It’s absolutely brilliant! The guitar interplay between Richards and Taylor is at its peak here and its absolutely the most KEITH- centric album they ever recorded too😁
